Gianina Carbunariu, director and playwright, was born in 1977 in Romania. She studied French & Romanian Literature and subsequently focused on her work as a director. In 2002 she initiated together with other directors the DramAcum project, for which she was awarded the Prize of the International Association of Romanian Theatre Critics. Since 2003 she has taken part in numerous festivals, writing and directorial workshops, in locations such as Romania, Poland, Germany, Ireland, Bulgaria, France and Macedonia. In 2004 she was a guest of the International Residency Programme of the Royal Court, London.
